This rod replaces the popular XP but is a marked improvement being both lighter and stronger.  It is available in 3 line weights, #2, #3 and #4 and each rod comes with a section without rings that can be inserted between the handle section and the first ringed section of the rod.  This can be done without taking the line of the rod since the inserted section has no rings.

The ability to add or remove the section allows it to act in two different rolls:

• at 9ft the rod acts as a perfect dry fly rod for delicate presentation of dry flies or for shorter distance nymphing
• At 10ft with the extra section inserted the rod is ideal for fishing long leaders with small nymphs in the French nymphing style

The #2 weight is a great for low water conditions where subtle presentation of very small nymphs on long leaders.  The #3 and #4 weight versions are for more general use but have been designed with more power to tame larger fish than the previous XP model that this the GPX replaces.

The rod weights are very impressive, at 10ft:

#2 = 81g (2.9 Oz)

#3 = 89g (3.1 Oz)

#4 = 92g (3.2 Oz)

The rod comes with a velour bag and a hard protective rod case.

Hends provides a 2 year warranty against manufacturing defects.  In the event of the rod being damaged by misuse or accidental damage replacement sections can be obtained for £40.
