Stewart's Black Spider
Tied for us by Robert Smith, expert fly fisher and fly dresser and author of 'The North Country Fly, Yorkshire's Soft Hackle Tradition'
This fly was described by W C Stewart in his book 'The practical angler : or, The art of trout-fishing, more particularly applied to clear water' published in 1857 and has remained a favourite of many generations of fly anglers ever since.
